I was born in Knoxville, TN but grew up in South Carolina. In high school is when I first started writing. It started as essays and other writing assignments and I was not a fan. When I got to the creative writing assignments, though, a passion was born. There’s just something freeing about the ability to create anything you can possibly imagine by giving it life on paper. That ability excited me. Pair that with my love of entertaining people and telling stories and I was hooked.
I stayed in South Carolina for college going to USC in Columbia and that’s where I became friends with a shy, fellow Criminal Justice major named Kristi. We had some classes together and hung out but we were just friends all through college. After college I moved across the country to pursue my dream of writing movies in Los Angeles. I enjoyed my time in Los Angeles but another opportunity reared its head and I couldn’t pass it up. This opportunity ironically brought me all the way back to South Carolina. That opportunity fell through but moving back allowed me to reconnect with my old college friend Kristi. A little over a year later, she walked down the aisle, I shed a few joyful tears, and we got married.
I still write movies, but this blog gives me a chance to combine my two biggest passions in life: my love for my wife and writing. It affords me the chance to write alongside my wife and for us to create something that is uniquely ours. I couldn’t pass up that opportunity.

I was born and raised in West Columbia, SC. I am the youngest of three and the only girl. Since I was young, I had an affinity for anything creative and I dreamed of being an interior designer. Whether it is decorating a space or doing a craft project, if it involves creativity I am up for it. With my interest in interior design, choosing Criminal Justice as a major at USC makes perfect sense, right? I guess not, but it's not as random as you might think. My dad was an Assistant United States Attorney for 23 years, so I have been exposed to the legal system my entire life. Thank goodness I chose Criminal Justice, though, because that's where Nolan and I met.
Even though I remember the very first time I met Nolan, it certainly was NOT love at first sight. In fact, we never thought of each other as anything other than friends. Our relationship was nothing more than a chat or breakfast between classes where we would discuss the difficulties we were facing in our college lives (note the sarcasm). When Nolan moved to Los Angeles, we would talk via text or Facebook every once in a while, but not with any consistency. It was when Nolan decided to move back to South Carolina that our friendship began to turn into something more. We texted constantly and if I didn't hear from him my day would seem incomplete. When Nolan finally moved back, we spent as much time together as we could. He finally came to his senses and we became an item not long after.
Not even a week after we made it official, my family received devastating news. My father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and the outlook was not good. Nolan stood by my side through this emotional journey and, as a result, we began to get very close very quickly. When someone so close to you is diagnosed with something like cancer, you tend to re-evaluate what is really important in your life. I have always been close to my family, but this brought us even closer. It became evident that you really never know what life is going to throw at you and you aren't promised tomorrow. So, once Nolan and I decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, we wasted no time.
Eight months after we started dating, Nolan proposed and four short months later, we were married. My dad's battle with cancer cut his life too short, but not before Nolan got his blessing to ask for my hand in marriage. Even though God called him home before our wedding, I know he couldn't have hoped for me to pick a better man to share my life with.
As a result, I have learned that you need to be there for those you love and spend as much time as possible with them, because at the end of the day your family and friends are all you have. With this in mind, we wanted to create something to work on together. So, we decided to marry his love for writing, my love for creativity, and our love for one another and Love In Difference was born.
